Ljubljana Maintenance Section reached another milestone in rolling stock maintenance provided to international customers by having completed the 9th overhaul of F4 locomotive which involved both the body and the bogies.

Thanks to fit-for-purpose equipment and skilled maintenance technicians, we have achieved the objective which was set five years ago. This helps us grow the trust placed in our work and make our maintenance services even more attractive.

F4 overhaul has been added to our services in 2019, and we have since completed as many as 27 body overhauls. In 2023 we adopted a new approach to bogie maintenance, whereby bogies are overhauled beforehand and – after the body overhaul is completed – an overhauled unit is swapped in place of the old bogie.

Bogie overhauls are carried out in our Ljubljana shop, Center Ljubljana, which has a wheel mount press and a turntable. During the overhaul, the driving wheel units are rolled out and sent to a shop abroad for wheel replacement. The process is similar to overhauling the 541, with the difference that Center Ptuj does the wheel replacements in-house. Refurbishing the driving wheel units and replacing the wheels in-house is on our to-do list also for the F4.
