Bosnia: AŽD Praha has modernised control and communication equipment on the 90 km Banja Luka – Doboj line under a €19m project. Europe: A consortium of Porr, G Hinteregger & Söhne, Società Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua and Itinera has formally signed the €966m contract for lot H51 of the Brenner Base Tunnel. This covers the boring of 10·37 m diameter twin tunnels between Pfons and Brenner, around 9 km of exploratory shafts, and an emergency zone at St Jodok. Netherlands: Last month ProRail and BAM were due to slide two bridges into place under the railway as part of a level crossing removal project at Veenendaal. Poland: PKP PLK has awarded AŽD Praha a 149m z oty contract to supply ESA 44-PL signalling and interlockings for the 50 km Poznan – Wronki route by the end of 2020. Budimex has rebuilt Olszamowice station to increase the line speed to 200 km/h under a 45m z oty contract.. Singapore: LTA has awarded Harsco Rail a contract to supply a custom-designed 16-stone rail grinder for the Thomson-East Coast metro line. Turkey: The consortium building the M8 Dudullu – Bostanc metro line on Istanbul’s Asian side has awarded Orge Elektrik a €1·9m contract for work at two stations. UK: Network Rail has awarded telecoms design and build framework contracts to Alan Dick Communications, Amalgamated Construction, Amey Rail, Babcock Rail, J Murphy & Sons, Kelly Rail UK, Linbrooke Services, McNicholas Construction Services, Siemens Mobility, Telent Technology Services and Thales. Network Rail and Edinburgh city council have appointed a team led by Arup and including architects Grimshaw and Allan Murray Architects, property consultancy JLL, cost consultancy Gardiner & Theobald, heritage professionals Jura Consultants and consultation specialists Streets UK to develop a masterplan for Edinburgh Waverley station. Having tested a prototype, Network Rail has awarded Abtus a £2·7m contract to supply 80 track geometry measurement tools. Network Rail is seeking to appoint a train control partner to deliver digital train control systems on the East Coast Main Line under its Digital Railway programme. The £1·8bn framework would comprise two call-off contracts, one covering professional services for an extendable four-year term, the other design, build, supply, installation and maintenance over 30 years. There would be separate procurements for a traffic management partner and a systems integrator. USA: Port Authority of Allegheny County has ordered a Harsco Mark VI tamper. New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway has selected Rockwell Collins’ ARINC Railway Net service to support the roll-out of Positive Train Control.
