Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the creation of a new subsidiary, Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), with the aim of expanding India’s metro rail expertise beyond its borders.

Sanjay Jamuar has been appointed as the company’s first Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The newly formed DMIL has been established with government backing to undertake metro rail projects, as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) assignments across India and internationally. In doing so, DMRC is positioning itself as a global consultancy and service provider in urban transit systems.

DMIL’s mandate includes offering advisory services to transport authorities, financial institutions, and urban planners. Its role will focus on helping cities design, develop, and optimise long-term metro and transit solutions. The company is expected to draw heavily on DMRC’s decades of experience in planning, constructing, and operating one of the world’s most efficient metro systems.

DMRC has previously contributed to the development of metro networks in several Indian cities. With DMIL, this expertise is set to be formalised and exported on a larger scale.

The appointment of Jamuar brings seasoned leadership to the new entity. A former Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, he has extensive experience spanning Indian Railways, DMRC, and international assignments across the United Kingdom, United States, France, the Middle East, and Europe.

With the launch of DMIL, DMRC is expected to significantly broaden its international footprint. The new entity will serve as a dedicated platform to channel Indian expertise into global urban mobility projects, at a time when cities worldwide are investing heavily in sustainable and efficient public transport systems.
