CDOT Announces Construction Date for New State/Lake Loop Elevated Station Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Aralık 8, 20250 The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), in coordination with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), has announced that construction will begin on the new State/Lake Loop Elevated station in downtown Chicago. Demolition of the 130-year-old station site is set to begin once it officially closes its doors on Monday 05 January 2026 – with construction on its replacement planned to begin shortly after. An artist rendering of the new elevated station © CDOT The new station will replace one of the oldest standing sites on the CTA rail system with an all-new, modern facility designed to improve safety, accessibility and comfort for passengers with wider platforms, new lifts for full ADA accessibility, a glass canopy and improved lighting & visibility. It is currently scheduled to open in 2029. During construction; all trains operating along the Brown, Green, Orange and Pink lines, as well as the Purple Line Express, will no longer stop at the State/Lake elevated station. Loop trains will continue to operate, with riders urged to use the adjacent and fully accessible Washington/Wabash and Clark/Lake stations. The Lake Red Line subway station will remain open. To transfer between the Lake Red Line subway station and the Loop Elevated rail lines, use the Washington/Wabash station.
