ÖBB to Begin Construction on New Feldkirch Tosters Station

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has announced a successful application to implement a set of three new stations along the Feldkirch-Buchs line; beginning with the new Feldkirch Tosters stop.

Initial construction is set to commence this month (November 2025), with two additional stops, Feldkirch Gisingen and Feldkirch Altenstadt, also planned for development within the coming years.

Replacing the existing stop at Tisis; the new Feldkirch Tosters station will aim to offer shorter journeys for residents and improve access to the Feldkirch State Hospital, as well as provide more connections to the city’s bus network. It will be designed with accessibility in mind and feature step-free access to platforms and bus stops, lifts and a new pedestrian underpass.

Judith Engel, Member of the Management Board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, said:

With the new Feldkirch Tosters stop, we are bringing the train even closer to the people.

It offers not only greater comfort but also makes an important contribution to climate-friendly mobility in the region.

A joint implementation agreement was recently signed by the City of Feldkirch, the State of Vorarlberg, and ÖBB to develop the three new stations.

In order for construction work to begin; the Feldkirch–Buchs line will be closed from June to October 2026, with a rail replacement bus service available throughout the 16 month period. The new station is set to be completed by summer 2027.
