CrossCountry has announced new changes to its service timetable, effective from Sunday 18 May.

The changes are set to include extra weekday services and longer trains on long-distance routes from the South West to the North East, as well as services from Manchester to the South Coast.

The new timetables, which are typically reviewed by the long-distance operator twice per-year, are now available on all online systems.

With the timetable reconfiguration set to include new services, CrossCountry will begin offering an extra 28,000 seats per week across nine additional trains, increasing capacity on busy corridors including services between Reading and Newcastle via Birmingham, Doncaster and York.

We know customers rely on us to get to where they need to be. Our May 2025 timetable update aims to improve reliability and comfort levels across the country, as well as helping more people to leave the car at home and take the train.

The timetable update follows CrossCountry’s recent announcement of a comprehensive refurbishment programme for its Class 170 Turbostar trains, which, when completed by 2028, will see customers travelling between Cardiff and Nottingham via Birmingham, as well as between Birmingham and Stansted Airport via Leicester and Peterborough, experience fully refurbished trains with new seats, improved charging facilities and new livery.
