Alstom Delivers Final Train for Singapore’s NSEWL Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Ekim 7, 20260 Alstom has announced the successful delivery of the final train for the ongoing renewal of Singapore’s North-South and East-West MRT Lines (NSEWL). The handover marks the completion of a major fleet replacement programme that aims to improve public transport across Singapore whilst embedding sustainability throughout the vehicles’ design, with almost 100% recycled materials used during production. Alstom has celebrated the delivery of the final train for Singapore’s North-South and East-West MRT lines © Alstom Comprised of 636 metro cars (forming 106 trains), the new units replace previous generation vehicles, and operate on two of Singapore’s most heavily used rail corridors. The units are designed for high-capacity urban operations, and will support the continued performance of the North-South and East-West Lines whilst seeking to enhance passenger experiences across the network itself. Yann Maixandeau, Managing Director for East Asia, Alstom, said: This milestone reflects the strength of our partnership with the Land Transport Authority and SMRT Trains. Together, we have worked at designing a fleet to meet the needs of passengers and operators alike. The new trains delivered provide greater comfort, improved accessibility and the long-term performance required to support one of the world’s most heavily used metro networks. Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded Alstom the initial 66 vehicle contract in 2018, followed by an additional order for 40 trains in 2019. All 106 trains were manufactured by Changchun Alstom Railway Vehicles Co. Ltd. in Changchun, China, and the programme combined work from Alstom teams in Singapore, China, Germany and Sweden whilst working closely with the LTA and SMRT Trains. Built using Alstom’s Movia metro platform, which in turn forms part of Metropolis metro solutions, the six-car trains are capable of carrying up to 220 seated passengers, and can operate at speeds of up to 90km/h. They are equipped with Flexx Urban bogies, Mitrac propulsion systems, regenerative braking and step-free boarding, and feature multipurpose spaces as well as a longitudinal seating layout. Additionally, the trains are fitted with automatic track inspection cameras in order to support infrastructure condition monitoring, and will be used to identify track conditions and support timely maintenance planning.
