Alstom has signed a new four-year contract for the maintenance of Panama Metro’s (PMSA) Line 1.

The contract includes maintenance of 26 Alstom Metropolis trains and their associated bogies, brakes, couplings and pantographs, alongside general maintenance of the line’s power system.

Alstom has been present in Panama actively contributing to the development of urban transport in the country since 2010

In order to carry out the works, Alstom has deployed its own HealthHub software, a digital condition-based and predictive maintenance system that monitors fleets around the clock, preventing extensive service-affecting failures in real-time.

The company has also been tasked with the maintenance of the line’s Urbalis signalling system, which is responsible for ensuring the accurate control of train movements through the use of communications-based train control (CBTC) technology.

PMSA’s Line 1 has been transporting between 240,000 and 280,000 passengers daily since April 2014 and runs for a total of 16km, with Alstom a constant partner since its inception having provided the development, construction and implementation of the line’s railway system.
