Alstom to Supply 34 Citadis Trams for Québec City Tramway

Québec City has awarded a 900 million EUR (1.34 billion CAD) contract to Alstom for the supply of 34 Citadis trams for the Québec City Tramway.

Alongside the design and supply of the rolling stock, the contract also includes maintenance services for a period of 30 years. In addition, it provides the option for a maximum of five additional trams to be ordered at a later date.

The electric trams will be developed by Alstom engineers in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and will be assembled at its La Pocatière plant in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.

They will operate on the upcoming 19-kilometre Québec City Tramway line that aims to offer an attractive alternative to road congestion in the city. This new line will serve 29 stations, two of which will be underground.

The new vehicles will be adapted to the climatic and topographical conditions of Québec City and will be designed to provide passengers with a comfortable, modern and spacious transport option.
