Germany: Frankfurt Orders 38 Citadis Trams from Alstom Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Haziran 21, 20180 Stadtwerke Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF), which operates public transport in Frankfurt, Germany, has ordered 38 Citadis trams from Alstom. The contract is worth approximately 100 million euros and includes an option for the supply of an additional 15 trams. © Alstom The trams will operate on the existing network in the city and the first two vehicles will be delivered to VGF in 2020. The version of the Citadis designed for Frankfurt, which is fully low-floor, will be 31.5 metres long with 3 carriages. The maximum capacity per tram is 197 passengers and accessibility will be enhanced by double-doors along the entire length of the vehicle. Features of the design also include glass surfaces, LED lighting, individual seats, passenger information screens, driver assistance systems, automatic dipped beams and rain sensors. The design is adapted for the German market: the carriages will be made of steel and incorporate four pivoting bogies to maximise flexibility. Jörg Nikutta, Managing Director for Alstom in Germany and Austria, said: “This order once again demonstrates the global success of our flagship tram Citadis. We are very proud to now introduce it to Frankfurt. By providing reliable and modern rolling stock, we commit to supporting German operators in overcoming tomorrow’s urban transport challenges.” Alstom has already sold 2500 of its Citadis trams to operators in 50 cities around the world. 2000 of the vehicles are already in service.
