The newly-delivered tram was produced by Spanish manufacturer CAF, and reached the Borgo Panigale depot on 8 September, where it will now undergo all necessary testing and commissioning activities required before its entry into passenger service.

SYSTRA Italy, alongside partner Architecna Engineering s.r.l., has played an important role in the realisation of Bologna’s tramway network project since 2020. For its part, the company’s contributions have focused on the project’s design, engineering, and technical development, including the tram infrastructure itself, its integration into Bologna’s existing urban fabric, route planning, system engineering, and the coordination of technical solutions required for implementation.

Initially, the company was awarded a contract for the Preliminary Design of the network’s Red Line, before obtaining an optional assignment for the Final Design of the same line and Design studies for the Green Line. Both projects included construction and quality supervision, and are now complete – one month ahead of schedule.
