Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has officially launched its 26-mile regional Silver Line rail service, which connects seven cities across North Texas and links directly to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

The line has been designed to reduce congestion, expand access and strengthen the region’s multimodal transportation network by linking Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Grapevine.

Funded in part through the Federal Railroad Administration’s Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing (RRIF) programme; the Silver Line utilises Stadler trains featuring bicycle and luggage racks, USB charging ports and ADA-compliant boarding.

By connecting key employment centers, neighborhoods, and the world’s third-busiest airport, this project will be a catalyst for economic growth, provide access to opportunity, and a seamless mobility experience that helps our region thrive.

The line’s 10 stations were all developed in collaboration with each of the surrounding cities, allowing for infrastructure to reflect both local character and community input with design elements emphasising safety, accessibility and a welcoming passenger experience.

As well as providing transport to seven cities within North Texas; the Silver Line also connects with DART’s light rail network, bus routes and Trinity Metro’s TEXRail service, as well as DFW Airport terminals.
