Alstom to Deliver 96 Metro Cars for Chennai Metro Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Haziran 6, 20250 Alstom has been awarded a 135 million EUR contract by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for the design, manufacture, supply, test and commission of 96 Metropolis metro cars for the second phase of the Chennai Metro. The project runs 119km long, with stretches of 76km and 43km elevated and underground respectively, with the line operating within three corridors and their inter-corridor sections. The contract worth 135 million EUR includes the design and manufacturing of 32 metro trainsets, comprehensive maintenance for 15 years and training of personnel © Alstom Alstom will manufacture 32 metro trainsets in three-car configurations, as well as provide 15 years of full-maintenance following the vehicles’ warranty period. Services will include cleaning, obsolescence management, and maintenance of both the plant and machinery at the depot site. The units are set to be designed at Alstom’s engineering site in Bengaluru (Karnataka) as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with manufacturing duties planned to be handled at its facility in Sri City (Andhra Pradesh). Each trainset will be equipped to carry up to roughly 900 passengers in its three-car configuration, with the units designed to run in multiple operation and include train to train and train to track evacuation features. Alstom is currently building 108 driverless Metropolis metro cars for Chennai Metro Phase-II, which links the Poonamelle Bypass to Light House via 30 stations, 18 of which are elevated and 12 are underground. To date, the company has delivered 208 metro cars for the first phase of the Chennai Metro project, as well as construction work in consortium with Larsen&Toubro to install track in the viaduct, tunnel, underground and depot within Corridors 1 and 2, covering roughly 86 track kilometres.
