Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Hitachi Rail and Strides Engineering to renew CCTV systems across the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL), Singapore’s busiest and oldest metro lines.

Spanning over 50 stations, this project aims to enhance the CCTV network’s infrastructure and increase camera capacity to improve monitoring and passenger safety on these key metro routes.

The upgrades will include a new centralised Video Management System (VMS) and Video Transmission Network (VTN), which will manage newly installed and existing cameras across the NSEWL network.

Under this contract, Hitachi Rail is responsible for the overall system design, while Strides Engineering will oversee physical deployment. The collaboration will ensure each station is equipped with advanced security technology integrated into the Operations Control Centre.

This CCTV project follows Hitachi Rail’s successful signalling system upgrade for the NSEWL, one of the world’s largest re-signalling projects, commissioned in 2017 for the North-South Line and in 2018 for the East-West Line.
