Hitachi Rail has signed a new framework agreement to provide onboard digital signalling equipment for SNCF’s TGV-M fleet.

This contract is worth up to 77 million EUR and will see Hitachi Rail supply its bi-standard ERTMS/TVM signalling solution for trains operating across the French and European high-speed rail networks.

It includes orders for a minimum amount of 25 million EUR, which can be extended to 77 million EUR over the next five years.

The bi-standard ERTMS/TVM equipment will help allow Europe become better connected by sustainable rail transport

Once in use, this new equipment will improve the reliability and availability of trains on the network.

By combining TVM and ERTMS technologies, it will enable SNCF’s high-speed trains to run seamlessly between French and cross-border networks.

In addition, the system will include a more powerful computer with a greater processing capacity, allowing it to handle future evolutions in signalling technology.

The new signalling equipment will be manufactured at Hitachi Rail’s factory in Riom, France.
