Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract extension for the maintenance of 51 Class 185 trains operating on TransPennine Express routes in the north of England.

This service contract is valued at 530 million EUR and will see Siemens Mobility maintain the fleet of Class 185 trains for an additional 8 years, until 2031.

The majority of this maintenance work will take place at Ardwick Depot in Manchester, as well as subsidiary depots at York and Cleethorpes.

This contract extension builds on Siemens Mobility’s recent success in digitally upgrading the trains, enabling them to remotely monitor their own condition through Railigent X.

Railigent X remote condition monitoring provides direct updates on each train and how it is performing, including any areas that need to be prioritised for maintenance.

This enables any issues to be identified in advance, ensuring the fleet performs reliably and delivers a positive passenger experience.
