This view highlights the difficulty of renewing infrastructure on the approaches to London Liverpool Street. Network Rail engineers are seen replacing track in Bishopsgate Tunnel during one of six weekend closures. NETWORK RAIL The renewal of more than 1,550 metres of track, sleepers and ballast was carried out over six consecutive weekends, and was complicated by the confined space, limited ventilation, a need to maintain timetabled service during the week, and close proximity to a main sewer.
