Appeal to save North British 4-8-2 tank engine Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Mart 27, 20190 THE UK-based North British Loco (NBL) Preservation Group has announced an urgent appeal for funds to preserve North British-built, heavy duty 4-8-2T locomotive No. 25916. The 1,067mm-gauge loco was one of 42 similar locos built for industrial use in South Africa between 1929 and 1955. North British-built 4-8-2T No. 25916 in store at Germiston depot, near Johannesburg, on January 13. KEN LIVERMORE Over the years, most of them have been scrapped, but the NBL Group has been offered a unique opportunity to acquire one of the last survivors for preservation and possible repatriation to the UK for overhaul and return to service. North British built several thousand industrial steam locomotives over the years, but only two currently survive in the UK. The loco was ordered by Coronation Collieries in 1945 and completed at Hyde Park Works on Order No. L953 in 1947. Read more in the March 2019 issue of The RM – on sale now!
