At Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, he has led the finance and IT departments since 2021, functions which are also combined within Deutsche Bahn’s recently restructured finance division. Prior to this, he was head of Group Controlling at Volkswagen AG for five years.

Supervisory Board Chairman Werner Gatzer said:

Michael Obrowski is a leader with outstanding expertise as CFO in a major corporation. He brings all the experience and skills to further develop the finance department with energy and sound judgment. With this personnel decision, the restructuring of the DB Management Board has been successfully completed.

His appointment follows recent changes to Deutsche Bahn’s Management Board. With Bernhard Osburg appointed as Board Member for Freight Transport and Harmen van Zijderveld as Board Member for Regional Transport, the leadership team under Chief Executive Officer Evelyn Palla is now complete.

DB CEO Evelyn Palla said:

I am delighted that my management team is now complete. Michael Obrowski is exactly the right person to drive forward DB’s strategic realignment with a strong finance department. He has extensive experience as a manager, knows the mobility industry and will contribute to the success of the business with his focus on implementation.
