Stadler has announced the signing of a new contract with Željeznički prevoz Crne Gore (ŽPCG) for the delivery of a set of three four-car FLIRT electric multiple units.

The new FLIRT trains, which will enter service in Montenegro for the first time, are based on Stadler’s existing vehicle platform, which is currently in operation in a number of European countries, including Serbia and Slovenia.

All units manufactured for Montenegro will be nearly identical to those currently in service in Serbia, allowing modern electric multiple units to operate in cross-border traffic between the two countries for the first time.

Each train will be specifically adapted to meet the requirements of Montenegro’s rail network, and will feature exterior design inspired by the country’s national colours and identity.

The new Stadler trains will provide our passengers with significantly higher levels of comfort, safety and reliability, while making rail travel far more attractive for both residents and tourists. This project represents an important milestone on our journey towards a modern European railway system.

The project is being financed with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
