Lumo has revealed a first look at the livery of the newly-refurbished Class 222 trains set to serve customers along its West Coast service when it launches this spring.

Refurbishment work is being carried out in association with Beacon Rail at Alstom’s modernisation facility in Widnes, with all units featuring a new livery in Lumo’s signature blue.

The operator has also revealed details of the refurbished interiors, with feature refreshed seating. The images of the trains were first revealed to around 50 VIP guests at the official opening of Lumo’s new rail base in Preston, which is set to create around 100 jobs as the operator prepares to launch direct Scotland-London trains.

Celebrations also included a procession by the Preston Caribbean Carnival, which led the way from Preston Railway Station to the new headquarters on Fox Street.

The new base was officially opened by Sir Mark Hendrick MP.

We can’t wait to begin this new service in the coming months, offering simple, low-cost tickets and direct services between Scotland, the North West of England and London.
