Joint Procurement Announced for Rail Baltica Trains Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Mart 19, 20260 Baltic passenger train operators Elron, Vivi and LTG Link have announced a joint procurement for a set of up to 20 Rail Baltica regional trains. All units will be compatible with the European standard gauge (1435 mm), and will be capable of travelling at a maximum speed of up to 200km/h. The regional operators have announced procurement for the trains © Elron Once delivered, the Rail Baltica regional trains will operate along the newly-built 14355mm infrastructure and enable faster, more environmentally friendly travel, marking a key milestone in the development of Rail Baltica. Estonian Minister of Infrastructure Kuldar Leis said: Rail Baltica is an important project for the Baltic States because it connects us more strongly both with each other and with the rest of Europe. Today’s joint procurement confirms that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are moving this work forward together with very practical steps. In addition to better connectivity, Rail Baltica creates more opportunities for Estonian companies and strengthens security along the entire eastern border of Europe. That is precisely why the project also enjoys strong European support. The procurement itself was published in the Estonian Public Procurement Register (LINK) with a deadline of 4 May, and a launch event was held in Tallinn, during which the scope of the procurement and the key requirements for the Rail Baltica trains were presented.
