Hitachi Rail to Play Key Role in Turin Metro Line 2 Project Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Mart 4, 20260 Hitachi Rail has been awarded a contract to both design and deliver rolling stock and signalling systems for the Rebaudengo–Politecnico section of Turin Metro Line 2 for its client, InfraTO. The project as a whole has been valued at 481.6 million EUR, of which 388.5 million EUR relates to the base section corresponding to the “Rebaudengo–Porta Nuova” lot, and 93.1 million EUR referring to the optional “Porta Nuova–Policlinico” section, which may be activated at a later stage. Hitachi Rail will provide both rolling stock and signalling systems © Hitachi Rail The final configuration of Line 2 will see it extend for around 28 kilometres and include 31 stations, with all vehicles set to be constructed entirely within Italy. Each train will be capable of accommodating up to 336 standing passengers, 68 seated passengers, 2 spaces for passengers with reduced mobility and 4 bicycle spaces for a total capacity of 404 passengers. Set to be equipped with the latest-generation CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control) signalling system in GoA4 (Grade of Automation 4) configuration; the line is currently scheduled to begin operation by 2033. It will be capable of fully driverless train operation, with starting, stopping, and door operation all being completely automated. All units operating on the line will also be equipped with HMAX for Rail, Hitachi’s own digital asset management solution which collects both vehicle and line data in real time in order to monitor the system and enable intervention when necessary.
