The contract, valued at approximately 326 million SGD, covers the design and construction of tunnels between the future DE1 station and the DE2 interchange station. The scope of work includes two mainline tunnels, a tunnel connection to Gali Batu Depot, and related modification works within the depot. Singapore’s Downtown Line © Government of Singapore Under the contract, three bored tunnels of around one kilometre each will be constructed at depths of up to 21 metres beneath Sungei Kadut Avenue, Sungei Kadut Way and Woodlands Road. The alignment passes close to the North–South Line and existing infrastructure, including waterways. A cut-and-cover tunnel will also be built within Gali Batu Depot to form part of a new reception track. Real-time monitoring and safety systems will be used during construction to manage ground movement and protect nearby infrastructure. Environmental mitigation measures identified through an Environmental Impact Assessment will be implemented, and engagement with local stakeholders and interest groups will continue throughout the works. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with passenger services on the Downtown Line 2 Extension planned to commence in 2035. The DTL2e will comprise three stations. DE1 will be an underground station located along Sungei Kadut Avenue, while DE2 will form a new underground interchange linked to an above-ground station on the North–South Line between Yew Tee and Kranji. The extension is intended to improve rail connectivity in Singapore’s north-west, reduce journey times, and support access to emerging development areas, including the future Sungei Kadut Eco-District.
