The framework agreement initially covers 180 trains, providing capacity for 54,000 passengers, and is valued at 1.7 billion EUR. The contract also allows for the potential supply of up to 380 additional units, which would increase capacity by 170,000 passengers. It employs over 17,000 staff and operates across 3,700 kilometres of track, transporting around 250 million passengers annually. The company runs InterCity, Regional, and Suburban services, connecting major cities and regions throughout Belgium. CAF has a significant presence in the Benelux region, with previous contracts including metro units for Brussels, metro and tram units for Amsterdam, and trams for Luxembourg, Utrecht, the Belgian Coast Line, Antwerp, and Liège. The company has also supplied more than 200 commuter trains to the Dutch operator NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen), including 60 double-deck units and 10 additional trains for QBuzz.
