Stadler has announced that its new TINA tram has entered regular service in Rostock.

The new vehicle was inaugurated at an event attended by State Secretary Ines Jesse, Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger, RSAG board members Yvette Hartmann and Jan Bleis, and Stadler’s Head of Sales Dr Ansgar Brockmeyer.

RSAG board members Hartmann and Bleis, said:

The people of Rostock can look forward to state-of-the-art, barrier-free trams with environmentally friendly air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a spacious interior.

It has been a long journey from the start in 2018 to today’s launch, involving very intensive discussions in city politics, several project stages and an extensive test phase. Now Rostock is getting a new generation of trams that will shape the cityscape for many years to come and make public transport even more attractive.

Initially, a single TINA tram will be used on Rostock’s main lines 1 and 5, whilst two additional vehicles will be used to train driving personnel.

RSAG has also now ordered its 30th TINA tram following the announcement of a funding increase of 2.3 million EUR – bringing Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s total contribution to the new trams to 11.75 million EUR and the total investment for all 30 trams to 107 million EUR.

Three TINA units are already in Rostock, with the rest set to follow between January 2026 and mid-2027.

Each of the trains are 32 metres in length and can accommodate 216 passengers with 75 seated. USB ports are stationed by each seat, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
