Stadler Valencia has been awarded a contract to supply seven TRAMLINK V3 electric trams for Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya’s (FGC) new TramCamp system in the region of Camp de Tarragona.

The contract also includes provision of spare parts as well as full-service maintenance for 15 years.

A key element of the TramCamp project, the new trams are set to operate along the Cambrils–Salou–Vila-Seca corridor and will be both designed and manufactured at Stadler’s site in Albuixech, Valencia.

Designed for operation on non-electrified sections, the trams will feature an onboard electric traction system powered by lithium (LTO) batteries, with a range of up to 9.9 kilometres.

Capable of carrying up to 211 passengers, each tram consists for five carriages and can travel in both directions, with flow flooring throughout and a top speed of 81 km/h. The trams are fitted with real-time passenger information systems and air conditioning, with both the interior and exterior design of the units tailored to fit the landscape of Camp de Tarragona.

Maintenance of the vehicles is set to be carried out in a depot close to the network in Vila-seca.
