Amey has been selected as a design and consultancy partner for Network Rail’s Development and Design Partnership Framework (DDPF), which aims to improve rail infrastructure in the north of England.

The framework, valued at 300 million GBP, will span five years and support various strategic rail programmes.

As part of the framework, Amey will provide infrastructure services, including professional development, design, and technical support. The focus will be on enhancing rail connectivity and facilitating access to employment, education, and healthcare in towns and cities across the region.

A key component of the framework involves developing investment cases, as well as undertaking optioneering and design services. These efforts will contribute to major rail programmes such as Northern Powerhouse Rail, the Integrated Rail Plan (IRP), and Network North. Amey will collaborate with delivery partners to ensure cost-effective and transparent project execution.

This appointment builds on Amey’s existing relationship with Network Rail. The company was recently awarded 800 million GBP in works as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade West Alliance (TRUWest) project. Amey has also been appointed to Network Rail’s North West and Central Region Environmental and Professional Services Framework.

The Development and Design Partnership Framework is expected to support long-term improvements in rail infrastructure, contributing to regional economic growth and enhanced transport services.
