GERMANY: Leasing company Northrail has signed a full-service agreement to provide RTB Cargo with three Siemens Mobility Smarton electric locomotives for up to five years.

Announcing the contract on August 20, Northrail said the locos would be delivered by spring 2020 for use on automotive trains within Germany.

Paribus Group’s Northrail business manages around 130 locomotives and more than 90 passenger vehicles. It has now placed firm orders for a total of 10 Smartrons under a 2018 framework agreement with Siemens Mobility which covers up to 25 locos and the provision of maintenance under the manufacturer’s Railcover service concept.
