A WOMAN accused of starting a destructive fire at Nottingham station in January last year has denied two charges of arson at the city’s Crown Court today.

The fire caused damage costing £5.5 million, and brought transport systems in central Nottingham to a standstill while ten fire crews fought the blaze.

The fire began in the ladies’ toilets, where it is alleged that Gemma Peat, 34, of Wilford Crescent East in Nottingham, started the fire.

She is facing a charge of arson with intent to endanger life and a second charge of arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered.

She was remanded in custody to appear in court again on 12 August.
