Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Bombardier Transportation and have agreed a call-off order for the delivery of twenty-five Bombardier TALENT 3 trains, with the option for an additional five trains, for approximately 188 million euros. This second order from ÖBB is based on a framework from 2016 which agreed an order for up to 300 trains.

All 25 trains are six-carriage electric multiple units, with six driven axles for improved acceleration. The carriages also have up to 50% higher capacity than the previous generation of Bombardier Talent trains thanks to their wide railcar bodies.

19 of the 25 vehicles will be used in Tyrol and the remaining six trains will provide transit between South Tyrol and Italy. The trains for Tyrol will be delivered in 2020 and the trains for South Tyrol in 2021.

ÖBB already operates 187 Bombardier TALENT trains around Austria.
