France: CAF to Supply 60 Trams to Montpellier Yurtdışı Haberleri by railsistem - Haziran 21, 20220 CAF has been selected to supply a new fleet of trams for the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole region in France. Under the contract, which is valued at over 200 million EUR, CAF will supply the surrounding areas of Montpellier with 60 Urbos platform 7-module trams, as well as a possible 17 additional trams in the future. This is the largest tram contract to have been awarded in France so far this year. The trams will be supplied to Transports de l’agglomération de Montpellier (TaM), who operates four existing tram lines in the region, as well as 36 public bus service lines, and a bike-sharing system. CAF’s Urbos trams are designed to be energy efficient, reliable and comfortable The new trams will run on Line 1 which connects the Odysseum shopping centre with Mosson, and on the upcoming Line 5, which will run through the towns of Lavérune, Montpellier, Clapiers, Montferrier-sur-Lez and Prades-le-Lez. This procurement forms part of the region’s Transport Plan, which aims to gradually phase in free public transport to combat climate change and improve the quality of life in Montpellier. The contract builds upon CAF’s significant number of French projects in recent years, including the supply 146 trains for the Paris RER B commuter line.
