First Stadler FLIRT DMU Destined for San Bernardino Leaves Factory

The first of three diesel multiple units (DMUs) ordered from Stadler by the San Bernardino County Transit Authority (SBCTA) in the US has now left the manufacturer’s factory in Salt Lake City.

This is the second project Stadler has delivered to a transit authority from its Salt Lake City site, having manufactured FLIRT trains for Trinity Metro’s Texrail line in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2019.

The SBCTA made the order for its three diesel-electric, low-floor multiple unit FLIRT trains in 2017. These will operate on its Arrow passenger rail service, which is also known as the Redlands Passenger Rail Project.

This is a nine-mile, five-station commuter route between the San Bernardino Transit Center and the University of Redlands.

Upon arrival the vehicles will begin extensive testing on the transit authority’s infrastructure.
