Network Rail is performing track upgrades between Chester and Crewe over the next four weekends to improve drainage and stop heavy rain from flooding the tracks.

The works are taking place under the Great North Rail Project and will receive 250,000 GBP in funding. In recent years, storms throughout the year have come with exceptional levels of rainfall, causing tracks to become swamped. This in turn leads to long delays for both passengers and freight.
