The Coradia Stream High-Capacity double-decker EMUs are modular in nature. Each of the 34 trains will consist of four cars. Two of these will be driving cars and two will be centre cars. Alstom will also supply an additional 18 centre cars so that the trains can be lengthened to six-car units if passenger numbers require. That means the total order is for 68 driving cars and 86 centre cars.

It is the driving cars that will be double-decker units. This arrangement is a compromise between capacity and accessibility. The centre cars will have ramp-free access for passengers with reduced mobility. Alstom believes this combines efficient standardisation and tailored solutions depending on customer requirements, such as expandable bicycle compartments or multi-generation areas.
