TfNSW’s Digital Systems Program was set up to replace existing signalling and train control systems with modern, internationally recognised technology that will allow more frequent and reliable services for Sydney Trains passengers. A central aspect of the contract is transfer of knowledge and enabling key stakeholders to increase their experience levels.

The government of NSW awarded the first phase of the system integration contract to Network Rail Consulting in 2018. Thanks to this current extension, NRC will be able to support the deployment of the European Train Control System (ECTS) Level 2 with a traffic-management system (TMS) on two stretches: Cronulla to Sutherland, and Bondi to Erskineville.

Network Rail Consulting is working in partnership with Acmena, The Go-Ahead Group and Ineco.
