Serbian State Railway Company Gets €100m Rolling Stock Loan from EBRD | Rolling Stock

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development says it is loaning 100 million euros to Serbia’s state railway company Srbija Voz for the purchase of up to 18 new trains. These will be four-car regional passenger trains that will run on the country’s electrified network. Serbian Railways currently operates electric Class 412s and modern Class 413s, type Stadler FLIRT, which were built in 2014–15.

CAF Wins Signalling Contract in Uruguay | Infrastructure

CAF Signalling, a subsidiary of CAF Group, has won a signalling contract for the Ferrocarril Central project in Uruguay. CAF Signalling has won this contract as part of a consortium. Its project scope, valued at 30 million euros, includes an electronic interlocking, a centralised traffic control system and ERTMS Level 1. The Ferrocarril Central project is a railway line between the port of Montevideo and the city of Paso de los Toros.

Alstom Reveals Model for the Aqua Line in Mumbai | Rolling Stock

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation and Alstom have together unveiled a life-size model of the new metro train that will run on Line 3 (Aqua Line) of the city’s metro network. Alstom and MMRC signed a contract for 31 eight-car lightweight trainsets in September 2018. The contract is worth 315 million euros.

Gail Valley Railway Electrification Almost Complete | Infrastructure

Austrian Federal Railways says the Gail Valley Railway electrification project has entered its final phase. The project has been ongoing for almost two years. Once the new timetable comes into effect in December, the line will be able to operate modern electric trains for the first time. To achieve the deadline, the line will remain closed until 14 December.

Alstom to Test Coradia iLint in the Netherlands | Rolling Stock

At the Climate Summit Northern Netherlands, Alstom, Engie, ProRail, Arriva and the Province of Groningen all signed a contract for a pilot project to test Alstom’s hydrogen fuel cell train, the Coradia iLint in the Netherlands. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate that hydrogen fuel cell technology is a good solution for zero-emission rail travel for non-electrified railway lines in the Netherlands. The aim is to perform the tests during the first quarter of 2020.

Alstom and FS Italiane Reconfirm Partnership with University of Bologna | Science & Technology

Alstom and FS Italiane have reconfirmed their partnership with the School of Engineering and Integrated Mobility at the University of Bologna. 35 students will participate in a four-week course consisting of 130 lessons, which will be taught by professors from the university and business experts. The goal is to give the students the necessary skills to transition into working in the industry.
