Alstom has delivered the first Long Distance train for the Tren Maya project in Mexico.

These trains aim to provide passengers with enhanced safety, comfort, and modern amenities for day and night travel.

The Long Distance Train (P’atal) offers reclining seats and multi-functional cabins that transform from daytime spaces for work and relaxation into comfortable sleeping bunks at night.

The train also features a restaurant car and a cafeteria car, giving passengers various dining options during their journey.

Designed to accommodate 260 passengers, the train includes 238 standard seats, 4 spaces for passengers with reduced mobility, and 18 seats distributed in 9 cabins. This configuration offers 17% more capacity than the previous model.

Before entering full operation, the train will undergo rigorous static and dynamic tests focusing on critical systems such as traction, braking, and passenger information to ensure compliance with safety standards.

The delivery of this Long Distance train is the first of three scheduled deliveries, part of a total fleet of 42 trains for the Tren Maya project, which includes 31 Standard Xiinbal trains and 8 Restaurant Janal trains.

The trains are manufactured in Mexico by local workers.
