LA Metro K Line to Open on 7 October

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) has announced that the K Line will open to the public at noon on 7 October 2022.

The K Line is LA Metro’s seventh rail line. It will initially serve seven new stations between Expo/Crenshaw and Westchester/Veterans in Los Angeles.

This will improve connectivity for the city of Inglewood as well as for residents in Baldwin Hills, the Crenshaw Corridor, Hyde Park, Jefferson Park, West Adams and Westchester.

At Expo/Crenshaw Station, riders will be able to transfer between the K Line and the E Line that runs between downtown Santa Monica, Culver City, USC, Exposition Park and downtown LA.

From 2023, the K Line will also run to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The LAX Transit Center Station is currently under construction and will be the transfer point between Metro Rail, bus lines and the LAX Automated People Mover that will serve the airport terminals.

Construction of the K Line rail line broke ground in 2014 and has included the creation of two new underground sections.

To celebrate its completion, rides will be free across the entire Metro bus, rail and bike share system from 7 October to 9 October.
