Trains have started to depart from London Paddington once again for south Wales and south west England after services had been halted by damage to the overhead wires at Hayes.

National Rail said some lines through Hayes & Harlington had reopened after more than 24 hours of repairs, but that disruption was expected to continue for the rest of today.

The damage had disrupted the journeys of thousands of people who had been travelling to London for the Queen’s State Funeral.

The cause of the damage has not yet been revealed.
