Siemens Delivers Two Brightline Trains to Orlando

Brightline has welcomed the delivery of two Siemens Mobility trains to operate on the upcoming Orlando extension line.

The new vehicles, named ‘Bright Green 2’ and ‘Bright Pink 2’ travelled 3,000 miles from the Siemens Rolling Stock facility in Sacramento, California to Brightline’s Vehicle Maintenance Facility, south of Orlando International Airport (Florida).

The trains will be added to Brightline’s fleet to carry passengers between Orlando and South Florida from 2023.

Brightline TrainsThe new trains left the Siemens Rolling Stock facility on 8 July and travelled 3,000 miles across 10 states en route to Florida

Michael Cegelis, EVP, Development and Construction, Brightline said:

“This is an exciting moment as we welcome not one but two brand-new trainsets, Bright Green 2 and Bright Pink 2 to our Vehicle Maintenance Facility site in Orlando. These trains, and our entire fleet, are built with the consumer in mind. They are modern, eco-friendly and equipped with conveniences such as hi-speed wi-fi and plug-in connections at every seat. All of which makes for a comfortable, seamless ride.”

The six-car trains each consist of two locomotives and four passenger coaches. They are among five new trainsets that will arrive in Florida ahead of the opening of Brightline’s Orlando station. The first of these, Bright Red 2, arrived in October 2021, while the second train, Bright Blue 2, arrived in February 2022. The final trainset is expected to arrive in Florida later this year.

Brightline’s Orlando extension project is currently 80 percent complete. Construction is expected to conclude in late 2022 and will begin carrying passengers in 2023.
