Alstom Formally Opens New Indian Manufacturing Facility

Alstom formally opened its new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, India with a ceremony attended by France’s Ambassador to India, Emmanuel Lenain, and Alstom India and South Asia Managing Director Alain Spohr.

Spread across 15 acres, and with an installed capacity of 2.1 million hours, it’s the largest components manufacturing facility in Asia and will create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Alstom has had a presence in Coimbatore since 1978. This new site will enable wider production diversity and complexity, offering integration and testing of tractions, auxiliary convertors, cubicles, driver desks and rolling stock looms.

It will not only deliver components to Alstom’s sites across India, but also to countries around the world – from Saudi Arabia and Vietnam through to France, Italy and Canada.
