  • Additional measuring ranges, improved performance, ITAR-free: the new ASC IMU 8

The analog inertial measurement unit ASC IMU 8 has been optimized: Both the gyroscopes and the accelerometers now feature additional measuring ranges. And the already excellent performance of the gyroscopes is now even better.

The analog ASC IMU 8 is unique on the market due to its unequaled quality. Test and measurement engineers value this inertial measurement unit because it provides measurements for all 6 degrees of freedom as raw data for individual signal processing and analysis. The tactical grade gyroscopes now offer five measuring ranges (±10, ±25, ±100, ±200 and ±400 °/s) instead of two as in the past, allowing an optimal selection for the particular application. In addition, there are significant improvements in important parameters: Depending on the measuring range, the gyroscopes now achieve bias stability of 0.03 °/h to 0.1 °/h instead 0.12 °/h as in the past, and the angular random walk has been reduced from 0.017 °/√h to the range from 0.005 °/√h to 0.01 °/√h.

Accelerometers of the ASC IMU 8 series feature the usual outstanding bias and scale factor repeatability, as well as excellent in-run bias stability. What’s new, however, is the measuring range of ±16 g: Like the measuring range of ±30 g available so far, the new range does not fall under the EU dual-use regulation. This expands the configuration options of the flexible modular system, which is not subject to any export restrictions.

The ASC IMU 8 remains ITAR-free and its outstanding features make it ideal for high-precision position measurements and bridging navigation, for example in drones, ships, robots or automated guided vehicles. It is also suitable for platform stabilization, as well as for railway engineering and mobile mapping applications.
