Porterbrook Takes Over Long Marston

Porterbrook, one of the UK’s ROSCOs (rolling stock owner), has taken the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre into its portfolio.

The site comprises 135 acres with a 2-mile circular test track and more than 12 miles of train storage facilities. The site is also connected to the national rail network.

Having taken on the innovation centre, Porterbrook’s intent is to invest in and upgrade the on-site facilities.

Long Marston, the site of Rail Live!, is situated near Stratford-upon-Avon. It is Porterbrook’s first operational and delivery facility. Other Porterbrook sites include its headquarters in London, and its engineering design and asset management centre in the East Midlands (Derby).

Porterbrook has partnerships with Chrysalis and the University of Birmingham and both of these organisations will remain on site. Moving forward, other businesses will join them with the goal of turning Long Marston into a leading centre for railway innovation.
